Already a tradition, as Cologne people say (although it just started in 2001), the “Kolner Lichter” (Cologne Lights) which attract and excite Cologne and non-Cologne peoples to meet on the 10 July to see the firework and listen to music adapted to the firework at the Rhine riverbank. Over 500 000 people came last year. More fireworks in different locations are mushrooming now... But the one here in town is the biggest and most famous along the Rhine.

To offer you the occasion to participate, we like to invite you to come over and share with us this outstanding event at an excursion boat where we hired a deck for (80) Mensans only. What do you think about?

According to Mensa World Connect, we’re inviting Mensans from all cities Cologne is connected in partnership (Barcelona/E, Bethlehem/IL, Corintho/NIC, Cork/IRL, Esch-sur-Alzette/L, Indianapois/USA, Istanbul/TR, Kattowitz/PL,Klausenburg/RO, Kyoto/J, Lille/F, Liverpool/GB, Luttich/B, Peking/C, Rotterdam/NL, Tel Aviv/IL, Thessaloniki/GR, Tunis/TN, Turin/I, Turku/FIN, Wolgograd/RUS) for the weekend surrounding July, 10 th. With this very special event we’d like to open the discussion of how to come even closer together as Mensans all over the world. As a matter of course there will not only be time for discussing and building up international contacts, but also other social program / events before and after the boat trip.

We are looking forward seeing you here in Cologne to spend a wonderful day (the boat will cast off at 2 p.m. and is expected to be back at about 1 a.m. in the night) with five different fireworks on the Rhine together. We’re sure, we’ll have lots of fun and a great time.

Considering accommodation we will help you to find something convenient for your desires (youth hostels, SIGHT, private accommodation and hotels available). Concerning the boat trip, you have to calculate 45 EUR. Accommodation and side program is voluntary and so depends on your habits. But it has not to be expensive: Cologne is the german center of no-frills airlines (i.e. germanwings, easyjet, hlx).
